Cathy Burns is a nationally and regionally recognized artist living and working in central Arkansas. Her work is layered and textural and reveals her interest in exploring surface issues. She often depicts human form or human presence. Her images are also elemental and involve the use of abstract symbolism. She enjoys working in series using mixed media. She loves the visceral response achieved from the alchemy involved in using various art materials. Her titles are narratives that give a glimpse into her thought process as she satisfies her compulsion for mark-making. Through her work she hopes to incite intellectual and spiritual reflection.

One of Cathy's recent works was chosen as a Delta Award Winner at the 49th Annual Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center, and it was showcased again at the 50/50 Delta Retrospective exhibit.
