Christina Mariotti

Artist Christina Mariotti was born in Rome, Italy of an American mother and a Roman father.  During her childhood she often traveled back and forth between the two countries, acquiring artistic influences from both cultures.  While in Italy her mother, an art lover with degree in Art History, would take Christina to all the historic locations of Rome, exposing her to great works of fine art and statuary.  Her mother would make sure she was informed of every pertinent detail of the artists' lives and works.

Years later Christina moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas and attended the University of Arkansas where she received her B.F.A. in painting.  During this time Christina began visiting Italy again and even did a semester abroad at the American University of Rome.  She explains that these valuable visits were like a cathartic rebirth; she could feel her dormant knowledge of the language coming back and her love of Italian design once more began to blossom within her.  She believes that these influences, everything from architecture to fashionable Italian shoes, play a large role in her painting.
