Rubén Morawicki
Argentina
Since he was a child, Rubén Morawicki showed interest in arts and nature. Photography was his way of pursuing that interest since a young age. Then, a new passion developed when he was introduced to painting. He cultivated his skills primarily in abstractions and non-objective painting. In the last few years, Rubén’s interest focused on a unique way of painting with acrylics on metallic surfaces, which has became his distinctive and colorful style.
"I paint because I like to create beauty. My styles are mainly abstract and non-objective. I enjoy them as a manner of fighting back the everyday-structured routine of life. In the same way as in life, for a painting to be beautiful, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Therefore, I enjoy the not-so-perfect abstractions that are close enough to reality and at the same time beautiful. I paint with acrylics and metallic films on canvas. These films produce a reflection of light more than any materials and let me engrave patterns and designs that genuinely challenge the imagination of my viewers. These multicolor patterns on metallic surfaces give my paintings a unique style. Even when the purpose of the patterns is not intended to send any cryptic message, my viewer’s own imagination always identifies meaning which enriches the whole experience."
Originally from Argentina, Rubén has lived in Northwest Arkansas for the last four years.
